Former CMS Official Joins Monitor Mondays Broadcasts

Matthew Albright was Acting Deputy Director of the Office of E-Health Standards and Services for CMS.

Former Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) official Matthew Albright, now the chief legislative affairs officer at Zelis, will join Monitor Mondays as a permanent panelist beginning Monday, March 2.

The announcement was made this week by Chuck Buck, publisher of RACmonitor and the executive producer and host of the long-running live podcast, now celebrating 10 years of continuous live broadcasting.

“We are delighted and honored to have Matthew join the broadcast,” Buck said. “Matthew brings a rich and deep history of healthcare policy, dating back to his early years at CMS.”

Albright’s new segment, “Legislative Update with Matthew Albright,” will be sponsored by Zelis. Albright will take his place alongside other panelists including Ronald Hirsch, MD, Ellen Fink-Samnick, David Glaser, Esq., and Sean Weis.

“This is not the first Monitor Monday appearance by Matthew,” Buck explained. “He has been a special guest in the past, reporting on such contentious issues as surprise medical balance billing and the 340B discount drug policy.”

While at CMS, Albright played a primary role in drafting a number of HIPAA administrative simplification regulations, and developed policy according to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mandates.

Before joining Zelis, Albright oversaw the certification program at the Center for Affordable Quality Healthcare Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange (CAQH CORE).

Albright is a published author on bioethics, and his writings on healthcare policy and legislation have most recently been published in Becker’s Hospital Review and Healthcare Business Today. At Zelis, Albright tracks and analyzes state and federal legislation that could impact both payer and provider clients of the firm.
