Question:

What are the common things pharmacists may miss when adhering to the controlled substance act?

Answer:

According to the Pharmacy Times article “Little Known Laws and Regulations the Community Pharmacist Should Know,” the following areas are commonly missed:

  • “Controlled substance prescriptions cannot be stamped
  • Doctor’s first and last name must be on the prescription
  • The patient’s address must be on the front of the prescription
  • Controlled substances must be filled once before they can be transferred.”
