Question:
When testing is conducted on a single specimen source such as urine, do we need to report a modifier?
Answer:
When testing is performed on a single specimen source (e.g., urine) the use of a modifier should not be necessary to report the applicable codes. If NCCI edits are present at the time of claims processing this would indicate the need to revise the code assignment.
