Can we bill 36415 for blood returned (or collected) after insertion of IV access and bill as a specimen collection?
Bill 36415 only for collection of venous blood specimens using a syringe or Vacutainer—a registered brand blood collection system specifically designed for venipuncture. Under common billing mistakes, blood returned (or collected) after insertion of IV access may not be coded and billed as a specimen collection.
