Bringing Home World Health Day to Everyone

World Health Day marked the 75th anniversary of the WHO.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is celebrating its 75th anniversary which commenced with World Health Day last week, April 7, 2023.

The International Federation of Health Information Association (IFHIMA) proudly maintains a relationship of more than 40 years as a non-governmental organization (NGO) with the WHO that is confirmed by our common objectives well-articulated in our vision “a healthy world enabled by quality health information.”

IFHIMA also celebrates its growing international membership with 33 nations represented across our membership categories, including associate, individual, national, educational, intuition and corporate. We’ve added Bangladesh, Bermuda, Ireland, Malaysia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates to our membership mix in 2023.

On this occasion, IFHIMA is also pleased to announce the publication of an article, Gaining an International Perspective on Health Information Management, in the Journal of AHIMA.

We thank the AHIMA editorial board for featuring this article which explores the mission, vision, and values of IFHIMA, our accomplishments over the past three years, and of course, the upcoming 20th IFHIMA Congress in Brisbane.  The article celebrates Margaret Skurka, well known to many on this broadcast, as the inaugural Tribute to Excellence awardee.

We hope you’ll be enticed to join us in Brisbane, Australia,  as we continue expanding global knowledge and our commitment to global health. Check out the early registration with substantial discounts, especially for members, and plan early to attend the IFHIMA Congress.

I’d like to acknowledge our authors for this article, Lynette Czarkowski, IFHIMA Regional Director for the Americas, Sharon Campbell, IFHIMA Regional Director for the Western Pacific and Marci MacDonald, an IFHIMA past president and perennial volunteer, who co-authored the article and is the IFHIMA Membership Chair.

I hope you will enjoy the article in the AHIMA Journal and do consider joining us in Brisbane for the IFHIMA Congress where we with raise a glass together in celebration of our ongoing commitment to “a healthy world enabled by quality health information.”
