Question:

What action should be taken when both 94640 and 94644/+94645 are documented on the same date of service?

Answer:

When providing inhalation treatment for acute airway obstruction, CMS will not pay for both code 94640 and 94644/+94645 if they are billed on the same date of service for the same patient. The medical record should be reviewed to determine which code should be submitted for payment.
