Question:

Can contrast-enhanced ultrasound codes (76978–76979) be reported in addition to grayscale ultrasound codes if performed in the same session?

Answer:

Typically with CEUS, the grayscale exam was performed at a previous session. However, if both exams are medically necessary, ordered, performed, and documented then both the CEUS and the grayscale ultrasound codes may be assigned.
