Providers often see oncology patients on the same day as their infusion or injection, raising important considerations for compliance and coding. The E/M service must meet medical necessity for the visit, and the place of service can determine what can and cannot be coded on the same date. Deciding whether these patients should be seen on separate days is another crucial factor. These circumstances contribute to the complex coding and compliance challenges that professionals face daily. Accurate and timely reimbursement relies on precise coding and thorough documentation, making this knowledge essential for optimizing revenue and maintaining compliance.
