Navigating upper extremity angiography and interventions coding

Explore the intricacies of coding for upper extremity angiography and interventions in this insightful webcast. Gain clarity with practical examples covering angioplasty, atherectomy, embolization, infusion therapy, and intravascular stenting for both arterial and venous procedures. Delve into comprehensive descriptions of the procedures, unravel the nuances of corresponding code choices, and understand how these selections can evolve based on the specifics of the procedure. Strengthened by real-world examples, case studies, and anatomical diagrams, you will depart with confidence in your ability to code for upper extremity procedures.

The agenda includes:

  • Upper extremity angiography
    • Upper extremity vessels, additional selective vessels after the initial study/exam
    • Overview of CPT codes and how they relate to procedures, anatomy and key phrases to look for in documentation
  • Upper extremity interventional procedures
    • Arterial and venous with review of anatomy, procedures and corresponding code choices for:
      • Angioplasty, stenting, embolization, thrombolytic therapy, thrombectomy, atherectomy
    • Imaging guidance – when it can and cannot be separately reported
    • Case examples and scenarios with key phrases to look for in documentation
    • Answers to frequently asked questions and, time permitting, answers to attendee questions

Note: Before participating in this session, we recommend that you attend our Basics of Interventional Radiology Coding webcast, which covers general IR coding essentials.
