New ICD-10-PCS Codes Are Here

The new ICD-10-PCS codes for the 2025 fiscal year (FY) were posted on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services website on June 6. The Version Summary reflects 371 new codes and 61 deleted codes.

The table below shows the changes by section:

Some of the new procedure codes are the following:

  • Laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) of brain and specific areas of the spinal cord;
  • Stereo electroencephalographic radiofrequency ablation of the brain;
  • Mapping of brain or specific areas of the brain;
  • Bypass of splenic or hepatic artery using renal artery or lower artery;
  • Dilation of various arteries using intraluminal devices with or without drug-coated balloon or sustained release;
  • Bypass of lymphatic vessels using peripheral or central vein, lymphatic vessel, thoracic duct, or cisterna chyli;
  • Removing drainage device from gallbladder or pancreas;
  • Revising drainage device from gallbladder or pancreas; and
  • Various new technology procedure.

There were no updates for the FY 2025 guidelines. These guidelines and procedure codes will be effective Oct. 1, 2024.

The files that were released may be used to prepare for FY 2025 changes. More updates will be covered during the August ICD-10-PCS webinar.
