Question:

Can you explain the process behind flow cytometry so we can get a better understanding on how to code for it?

Answer:

Flow cytometry can also detect multiple cell-surface markers simultaneously; the antibodies used depend on the presumptive diagnosis. Detecting antigens by flow cytometry allows identification and quantification of cells with specific characteristics that may indicate immune deficiencies, malignancies, or other disease processes. In the flow cytometry laboratory, it is necessary to determine specimens that pose the potential for duplicative testing and ensure that a modifier is not inappropriately appended for duplicate testing of fluids or tissues from specimens having the same or similar sources.
