Question:

Can we report the gross and microscopic examination of prostate biopsies taken during a traditional transrectal ultrasound procedure with 55760?

Answer:

Keep in mind that the coding scheme for prostate saturation biopsy applies only to specimens collected during the surgical procedure defined by 55706. The gross and microscopic examination of prostate biopsies taken during traditional transrectal ultrasound procedures (surgical procedure not defined by 55706) will be coded per core biopsy with 88305.
