Question:

Can you provide more clarity for 37215?

Answer:

Report code 37215 if a filter wire or type of other distal embolic protection is used during the procedure. Embolic protection involves maneuvering a guidewire with a screen, filter, or basket beyond the intended stent location. Any plaque or thrombus that may break off during the stent placement would be caught by the screen or filter instead of flowing into the cerebral arteries and possibly causing a stroke.
