Question:
How much needs to be imaged and described in the report in order to report extremity angiography codes?
Answer:
There is no written definition of how much needs to be seen to use an extremity angiography code (75710, 75716). The primary concept to understand for coding is what comprises an extremity angiogram. Typically, what is seen in a report is descriptions of the common iliac, external iliac, common femoral, SFA, popliteal, etc. Regardless of what specifically was imaged, if there’s a clinical indication and that’s what’s being interrogated, it’s an extremity angiogram. The entire extremity does not need to be seen.
