Live from AHIMA Podcast to feature Cleveland Health Clinic, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, ISASIS Healthcare

With the October 2013 ICD-10 implementation deadline looming on the horizon, three providers will relate their experiences in the transition process during a special one-hour podcast scheduled to take place 1:30-2:30 p.m. MT Tuesday, Oct. 4 from the 83rd annual AHIMA Convention and Exhibit in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The live podcast, “Tales from the I-10 Trail,” is being produced by RACmonitor LLC as one of nine programs to be aired under the title “Live from AHIMA” from Sunday, Oct. 1 through Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Scheduled to participate in the podcast are Lyman Sornberger, MBA, executive director of revenue cycle management for the Cleveland Clinic Health System; Roland Dale, RHIA, HIM Director and RAC Coordinator for Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tenn., Gretchen Segado, MS, PCS, CPC, CCP-P, deputy compliance officer of hospital and professional fee billing for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; and Kyle McElroy, RHIA, corporate director of health information management for IASIS Healthcare in Franklin, Tenn.

“Each of these providers has a unique story to tell about where they are in their respective transition programs,” ICD-10monitor and RACmonitor Publisher Chuck Buck said. “Just imagine the value listeners will receive when they hear these hospital executives relate their experiences while sharing information for the benefit of our listeners.”

Other segments will include coverage of each day’s activities, as a host of panelists will describe the morning general sessions. Featured panelists for Day 1, slated to speak from noon-1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 include Tifni Corbin from Ogden Regional Medical Center, the current president of the Utah chapter of the American Health Information Management Association; Dan Rode, the vice president of advocacy and policy for AHIMA; Kathy Pride, RHIT, CPC, CCS-P, director, of implementation and client services for Complete Medical Solutions; Mark Morsch, vice president of technology for A-Life Medical and OptumInsight; and Becky DeGrosky, RHIT, director of product management for TruCode.

Live Coverage on Day 2 will feature John Pitsikoulis, RHIA, strategic advisory services client executive for CTG Health; Lynette Czarkowski, MS, RHIA, senior consultant for e4 Services; Lauri Gray, CPC, RHIT, editor for Contexo Media; and Nelly Leon-Chisen, RHIA, director of coding and classification for the American Hospital Association.

“We will also be recognizing four outstanding female executives who have been nominated by their peers for our I-10 Leadership Awards,” Buck said. “Women continue to play an essential role in America’s healthcare system and we want to recognize those who have demonstrated outstanding leadership ability.” Buck said the winners will be announced live during a special segment, “In Their Own Words,” slated to air 1:30-2:30 p.m. MT on Tuesday.

Buck added that both Monitor Monday and Talk-Ten-Tuesday will be broadcasted live from the booth — No. 540 — during their regular time slots. Both half-hour shows air at 10 a.m. ET.

One other highlight, Buck noted, will be the Virtual Monitor Receptions slated to be held 5 p.m. ET on Monday and Tuesday afternoon. Listeners, randomly selected, could receive free e-books from the ICD University Bookstore.
